"Don't Lift Sanctions On Syria", Urges British NGO.
As the world watches the sheer devastation caused by multiple earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria, the West continues spreading grotesque propaganda, jeopardizing aid to Syrian people.
Situation Debrief.
A series of debilitating earthquakes have left Turkiye and Northern Syria in the rubble. More than 47000 people have been reported dead, and thousands are yet to be excavated. Syria has continued to be sanctioned and occupied by the US. A recent resolution in the US congress voted to keep the brutal sanctions in place with only congress members voting against the resolution.
Hundreds of rescue personnel from various countries have landed in Turkiye, however, Syria is facing a grave challenge to receiving necessary life-saving aid.
People on the ground are sounding an alarm that the illegal sanctions on Syria are actively hindering real-time efforts and aid.
The fear of sanctions by association is driving away aid from countries that are eager to help, like India. When the US regime claims “sanctions are only on the government” it means the entire system. For instance, these sanctions impact all banks in Syria by default. If any person from outside of Syria wants to send monetary aid to Syria, they are immediately flagged and the transactions fail.
The sanctions limit entry into Syria from all other borders except the one it shares with Turkiye, which is the only route to receive any international aid from. Due to the earthquake, this route has been damaged, making it difficult for aid to come through Turkiye.
Western countries are refusing to send aid through Damascus or Aleppo international airports.
Iran, Iraq, Russia and China are using the Assad government-controlled airports to deliver as much aid as possible. However recently a ship carrying aid to Syria from Iraq to Iran was bombed mercilessly by Israel. The rules-based international order does not consider this a crime against humanity when it should.
Italy is the only Western-aligned nation that has sent aid and a rescue team to Syria.
Some countries have dropped aid to Syria in Beirut to reach Damascus so the government can transport it to Aleppo and other nearby struck areas, but the sanctions have delayed this process indefinitely.
Russian and Iranian rescue teams have used their military equipment and personnel to help in rescue operations, because Syria lacks equipment like cranes and bulldozers since the war and again, due to the sanctions.
To make matters worse, Israel has launched a bombing campaign on Damascus while the country is reeling through this calamity.
Lastly, the US regime’s illegal sanctions invite corrupt NGOs that raise money in the name of helping Syrians struck by the earthquake. Legally, once they donate 10% of their collections to Syria, they’re safe. They can personally pocket 90% of the total donations.
Contextual Background
Some say civil war, and some call it a dirty US proxy regime change war. You can hate or support Bashar Al Assad, but let us examine some realities.
The US currently occupies a third of Syria, hijacking their oil and wheat fields.
Idlib province is currently held by Sunni Wahabi extremists, HTS (rebranded from Al Nusra).
The rest of the country is under the jurisdiction of Assad’s government but under heavy sanctions. These sanctions have ensured Syria cannot rebuild even after the dirty war has ended.
It is common knowledge outside of the US influence that ISIS / Al Nusra (rebranded to HTS) were being propped up by the US to achieve regime change in Syria. The US sanctions against the Assad ‘regime’ were put in place after Assad managed to defeat these extremists. All of this was inadvertently corroborated by John Kerry.
Mohd. Al Jolani, the HTS Wahabi leader, was whitewashed by the American press as the legitimate leader of Idlib, Syria, keeping with their long tradition of arming, funding and lionizing extremists when it suits the US interests.
Syria Needs You, a British government-aligned NGO, is seemingly providing aid to Syrians living under Jolani’s regime only.
Propaganda Example
Calls to lift the illegal sanctions on Syria have been growing over the weeks, so as to help Syrians rescue their men, women and children. But western NGOs that claim to be providing aid to Syria, are spreading anti-Assad propaganda even during these dire times of need.
The US government has supposedly relaxed most sanctions till August, which most Syrians claim is not enough. This is not true. A resolution to lift the brutal sanctions failed in the US house. All Democrats voted to continue to strangle an earthquake-ridden country.
Additionally, propaganda in western countries ensures their people are apathetic to the plight of Syrians because they believe what’s being fed to them. Exhibit below.
In this short propaganda video that has been viewed thousands of times, there are three false claims that expose this to be nothing but a foreign intelligence op, and not a serious rescue mission.
As per this young man with a British accent, Assad is a ‘brutal dictator’ who killed his own people.
Bashar Al Assad is a democratically elected president of Syria. The US and its allies tried to topple Assad’s government in 2012. When their regime change efforts failed, they funded extremists from Libya, Turkiye and Iraq to flood into the country. They described this as a "civil war”. In 2014 Russian air force came to the defence of Assad’s forces to limit these Al Nusra / Isis extremists to a small province bordering Turkiye, Idlib. In this manufactured civil war, the extremists, funded by the US, Turkiye and Saudi, caused more civilian casualties by using them as human shields.Lifting sanctions would strengthen ‘Tyrannical’ Assad.
Syria has been under sanctions since 2012. If Assad were to be toppled by Syrians themselves, it would have happened at the height of the dirty war. Unfortunately, these sanctions only hurt the Syrian masses and displace them in the millions, who have been under siege since 2012. Below is an interview with a UN expert on sanctions, who recently visited Syria. The earthquake has impacted areas ‘not under the Assad government’s jurisdiction’.
Aleppo which has been under Assad’s control since 2016, was hit hard by the earthquake. Idlib province which has also been hit hard is under the control of extremists. Assad’s government has gone to the extent to offer to help Idlib, which has been refused. The aid to Aleppo and other nearby regions is being strangled. Despite sharing a border with Turkiye like Idlib, due to the sanctions, Aleppo is the region being starved for aid. All the aid flowing into Syria through Turkiye may reach Idlib but not Aleppo, which the said propaganda video openly misleads its viewers into believing.
Bottomline.
Syria Needs You is a One Nation(British NGO) project that has raised close to $700,000, in the name of aid to Syria. Upon digging, we find that aid to Syria to them means aid to Idlib. The SNY video above, suggests Aleppo is not under the jurisdiction of Assad, but it is. That means their aid is not for all Syrians in need.
Any rhetoric that claims sanctions hurt only the leader of a nation like this SNY propaganda video does, is simply false. Sanctions harm the citizens of the said nation. These citizens who are struggling to survive do not revolt against their government in most cases. On the contrary, it makes the leader of said nation more popular of sorts amongst the masses, because they see him/her being under attack by a western superpower. It is to be noted the US is the only country engaged in illegal unilateral sanctions against 78 countries currently.
To learn more about the lies about Syria, here is a short clip from Former Colonel Richard Black of the United States.
We applaud all efforts towards the Syrian people, even if they are skewed to set a false narrative about large swaths of the Syrian population. The people of Idlib are oppressed and under a brutal Wahabi regime of Al Jolani, but that is not their fault. They have been occupied.
We must all support any aid going towards the Syrian people, whether in Idlib or Aleppo. By that logic, all sanctions must be removed, and the Syrian government of Bashar Al Assad must be allowed and helped to rescue as many Syrians as possible.
Stay alert, decolonize and deprogram from western propaganda.
